Students had final exam today, that means we are done with all the learning this year! Yeah~~

Next Saturday will be our last class. Students will present news broadcasting on the 1^st hour, but please kindly come in after 1:15pm to give us a little bit of time to do some rehearsal. After the news broadcasting presentation, it’s our class party! If you have any question or would like to help, please contact our class reps, Yee Ping and Peter, for more details.

 Special Announcement: 

 1. Please come in to our classroom at 2:30pm next Saturday.

        Students have a presentation for dearest mommies.

  2. “Salute to mom” from 1:00pm~2:50pm next Saturday.

         Yummy food will be served at room LA114.

 3. Students social lunch.  12:00pm~1:00pm, 5/16 at CCCS. 

        Students bring their own lunch to school. CCCS will provite ice cream.

        The purpose is for students to better know each other.

        Students social lunch will take place once every month next year.  

 4. Congratulations to students who passed the comprehensive test!

         If your test score is 70 and above, congratulations! you had passed the test.

         If your score is under 70, please prepare to take the makeup test

         on 5/30 after class.  

         If you already decided to stay in 3A class for next school year,

         you can skip the makeup test.

Can you believe that we only have 5 school days left at CCCS!

The final exam is on 5/30, and the last day of school is 6/6, therefore, we only have 3 days left for our lesson.

I am planning to have a news broadcasting presentation on 6/6. I believe we will only take the 1^st hour so we can have 2^nd hour for end-of-school-year party!

Dear 3A parents and students,

We just finished the comprehensive test! Yeah!!!!

Most of the students had done a wonderful job!

All the hard work and preparation had paid off!

Li Lao Shi is so proud of you! 3A studentsl!

Thank you, 3A parents! I can see your great, great at-home-support through students' outstanding job!

If your child didn't pass the test, there is one makeup test in May, and one before Summer break. I strongly recommend student to stay in my class for next year if they didn't pass the makeup tests. Learning language has nothing to do with grade level. My 11-year-old daughter is in CCCS 2nd grade now, and she has established a solid fundation. I have full confidence that she will be able to handle the higher level next year! Please let your child stay in the same level one more year if he/she needs more time and help. I will help them with all my heart! If your child fail the makeup tests, please let him/her stay in my class next year. Please don't let your child wonder in 4th grade class and lost all of their condifence and interest in Chinese next year!

We will start the test at the 1^st hour (1:00pm~1:50pm).

Students’ typing and speaking test will be given by me at the 2^nd hour (2:00pm~2:50pm).

Students are allowed to bring their own typing device for their typing test. The device should be turned on and be ready to use before the typing test starts.

Yesterday was the Lantern Festival "元宵節".

It falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month.

Students learnt the story, custom, and how people in Taiwan celebrate this special day. Here is the story video of “元宵節 yuan2 xiao1 jie2”

 Students practiced lesson 8 grammar and phrases in groups.

We will start lesson 9 next week.

 In 3/28, we will have our first practice exam of the Comprehensive Test.

I will put together all the material on "quizlet" this week for students to review.

 Most of our students have decided to be "news anchor" or "weather person" for our end-of-semester presentation.

Dear 3A parents and students,

Thanks to all the parents who took time to join us today. 

If you didn't come to class today, please see the Comprehensive Test Q and A below.

Q: What is "comprehensive test"?

A: There is a school-wide comprehensive test before the end of the school year.  This test will serve as a tool for teachers and parents to evaluate students’ ability to take on fourth level challenges.

Q: When is the comprehensive test?

A: The 3rd week of April in our LA117 classroom.

Q: What’s the format and content for comprehensive test?

A: It includes lesson 1~ 7. (excludes lesson 8~10)

1. Listening (35%):

    Students listen to 2 voice recordings and circle the correct   

    answers. 7 questions.

2. Speaking (35%):

    a. Read aloud “Let’s chant”.

    b. Answer questions.

3. Reading (20%):

    Read 10 sentences and circle correct answers.

4. Writing (5%):

    Write 2 sentences by using phrases and puntuations provided.

5. Typing (5%):

    Read/listen, and then type 2 sentences. 

Q: How do we prepare? Is there any study tool?

A: “Study guide” will be send to students.

     Online practices will also be available.

     There will also be a practice exam two weeks prior.

Q: What if students’ didn’t pass the test?

A: Students who didn’t reach 65% of the test can take a makeup test in May.

    The 2nd makeup test is in September, one week before school starts.

Q: What is the purpose of comprehensive test?

A: To ensure students have sufficient knowledge for 3rd grade level so they will have confidence to take the challenge for higher level next year.

A: 學期結束前，將舉行全校鑑定考，

讓老師及家長確認學生有能力挑戰四年級的課程。

Q: 鑑定考什麼時候舉行？

A: 四月的第三個禮拜，在3A教室內舉行。

Q: 鑑定考的分數比重如何計算？內容是什麼？

A: 內容包含第一課～第七課。(不包含第八課～第十課)

1.聽力(35%):

     學生聽完兩段錄音之後，選擇正確答案，共七題。  

2.口語表達能力 (35%):

   a. 朗讀課文中的“Let’s chant”。

   b. 回答老師的問題。

3.閱讀能力(20%):

    閱讀並回答十題選擇題。

4.寫作能力 (5%):

    以提供的組詞及符號，寫兩個造句。

5.打字能力(5%):

  聽/閱讀後，打出兩個句子。

Q: 學生要如何準備？有沒有複習工具？

A: 鑑定考“study guide”很快會寄出。

   學校會提供線上複習習題。

   鑑定考前兩週進行模擬考。

Q: 學生如果沒有通過鑑定考，怎麼辦？

A: 學生總分未達65%，五月可以補考。

   九月是最後一次補考機會。

Q: 鑑定考的目的是什麼？

A: 確認學生有充足的能力，有十足的自信心，快樂的迎接四年級更高的課程。

1. 3A students will have a scenario of "television news broadcasting" in the end of this semester.  Please let me know if you want to be a "news anchor" or the "weather lady/man". If you can’t decide which role you want to be, Li Lao Shi will assign the role for you.
