There are only 6 students turned in their workbooks today. Please engcourage your child to review, study, and finish their weekly assignment at home before every class.
Student who doesn't turn in homework will be asked to stay after school to finish homework. Student who doesn't mail typing homework to me will also be asked to stay and finish their typing after class.

Q: What is "comprehensive test"?
A: There is a school-wide comprehensive test before the end of the school year. This test will serve as a tool for teachers and parents to evaluate students’ ability to take on fourth level challenges.
Q: When is the comprehensive test?
A: The 3rd week of April in our LA117 classroom.
Q: What’s the format and content for comprehensive test?
A: It includes lesson 1~ 7. (excludes lesson 8~10)
1. Listening (35%):
Students listen to 2 voice recordings and circle the correct
answers. 7 questions.
2. Speaking (35%):
a. Read aloud “Let’s chant”.
b. Answer questions.
3. Reading (20%):
Read 10 sentences and circle correct answers.
4. Writing (5%):
Write 2 sentences by using phrases and puntuations provided.
5. Typing (5%):
Read/listen, and then type 2 sentences.
Q: How do we prepare? Is there any study tool?
A: “Study guide” will be send to students.
Online practices will also be available.
There will also be a practice exam two weeks prior.
Q: What if students’ didn’t pass the test?
A: Students who didn’t reach 65% of the test can take a makeup test in May.
The 2nd makeup test is in September, one week before school starts.
Q: What is the purpose of comprehensive test?
A: To ensure students have sufficient knowledge for 3rd grade level so they will have confidence to take the challenge for higher level next year.
1. 3A students will have a scenario of "television news broadcasting" in the end of this semester. Please let me know if you want to be a "news anchor" or the "weather lady/man". If you can’t decide which role you want to be, Li Lao Shi will assign the role for you.

Chinese Lunar New Year parade and potluck on 2/21:
Parade: Starts at 2:40pm.
Students are encouraged to wear Chinese custom to school.
Potluck: 4:00pm~6:30pm.
Students who won the EP contest will accept rewards during potluck.
Please check students’ backpacks, they have brought home 2 fliers that contain all the potluck information or you can check school website for more information.
We started lesson 7 today. Class ended at 1:50pm due to EP contest.
Announcement:
There will be a “level test” schoolwide in April.
The test includes lesson 1~ lesson 7 (No lesson 8~10).
Students will take home the “3rd grade level test study guide“, and school will also provide opportunities for students to practice level test online so they can be well equipped. Once students are thorough with all the words, phrases, and sentences in the study guide, they are good to go.
Level test includes listening, reading, writing, speaking, and typing. It’s similar to our final exam format.
Students have 2 chances to do the makeup test, one before summer break, and one during summer break if they didn’t past the the first time.
The purpose of the level test is to make sure students understand the content that they have learnt, have confidence, and be capable of dealing with the new lesson in 4th grade next school year.
Students who couldn’t pass the test 3 times are encourage to stay in 3rd grade next year so they can establish solid foundation for further learning.
Please feel free to ask me if you have any question about the level test.
